Havre de Grace Hotels in Baltimore, Maryland

Havre de Grace hotels are not abundant in number, though there are some good options for places to stay should you be dropping into this bayside town for look around. Havre de Grace lodging comes mostly in the form of bed and breakfasts, with a couple of choices for cheap hotels and motels to round out the bunch. All of the Havre de Grace hotels, regardless of their shape or size, are relatively affordable, and this only lends to the city's popularity as a stopping point in the Chesapeake Bay region.

Some travelers treat Havre de Grace as a Baltimore side trip and drop by to check out the shops or grab some lunch before heading back to their Baltimore hotels. Others choose to stick around for more than just a few hours, partly because of the city's quaint, seaside charm. When staying overnight is the aim, one of the Havre de Grace hotels that deserves a look is the Old Chesapeake Hotel. This is anything but your chain brand hotel, as it offers eight different buildings among five different properties. Two of the properties are bed and breakfast-style establishments, while the other three are more akin to apartments that were converted into hotels. Both of the B&B properties offer four rooms, some of which have eat-in kitchens and fireplaces. The rooms at the apartment-style establishments are similar to the B&B rooms in many ways, as some offer full kitchens. All are clean and comfortable and feature good amenities, with cable TV being standard. Internet access is available at no extra cost in most of the units, and should you book one of the apartment-style units, you might have multiple rooms at your disposal, not to mention a whirlpool tub and private laundry facilities.

When a good bed and breakfast is what you have in mind when it comes to Havre de Grace lodging, the Spencer Silver Mansion B&B (pictured) at 200 S. Union Avenue is not to be overlooked. The beautiful mansion that houses the guest units at this inn was built in 1896, and its location in the heart of the historic center could hardly be better. Just a few blocks away are some of the top local attractions, including the Concord Point Lighthouse and a couple of interesting museums. Adding to the allure of a stay is the fact that the staff can help you find attractions that suit your fancy, as well as provide you with tips on local events and things the like. Upon entering the Spencer Silver Mansion B&B, you feel like you have been transported back in time. The lovely Victorian decor dominates throughout, and while some of the guest units are more lavish than others, all of them are inviting. The most exclusive unit is the separate Carriage House, where added privacy, a fireplace, a kitchenette, and a whirlpool tub figure among the perks. Standard in-room amenities include air conditioning, heating, cable TV, a DVD player, an iron, and a hair dryer.

Another top Havre de Grace lodging is the Vandiver Inn. As is true of the Spencer Silver Mansion B&B, this bed and breakfast hotel is housed in a Victorian mansion from the late 1800s and can be found on S. Union Avenue. The main difference between the two inns is the fact that the Vandiver also features two adjacent guest houses that add a considerable number of rooms to the picture. At the Vandiver Inn proper, there are eight rooms on offer, while the auxiliary Kent and Murphy Guest Houses offer nine rooms respectively. Regardless of whether you stay in the main inn or one of the guest houses, you can expect to enjoy some of the best accommodations around. In addition to tasteful decor, each of the seventeen guest units feature cable TV, Wi-Fi, a hair dryer, an iron, and a private bathroom with a shower. Fireplaces, whirlpool tubs, and CD players are available in some of the guest units, and can be welcoming additions. A full breakfast is included in the rates and can help guests get ready for a full day of shopping, boating, or something the like.

As far as the cheap hotels in Havre de Grace are concerned, budget travelers can save a lot on lodging costs at the Best Budget Inn Havre de Grace. The 40 rooms at this discount hotel aren't big on frills, though you will have trouble beating the rates. High-speed Internet access is standard, and free parking helps to sweeten the deal.

Just a short distance from the Best Budget Inn is the Super 8 Havre de Grace. While not luxurious by any means, the rooms at the Super 8 are more tasteful than those at the Best Budget Inn. Standard in-room amenities include cable TV, a mini fridge, and a private bathroom. A continental breakfast is included in the rates at the Super 8 Havre de Grace, helping to make it a fine alternative to the other cheap hotels in Havre de Grace. You can spend more at one of the other hotels in town, but the money that you save at the Super 8 can come in handy for things such as dining out, fishing, and hitting an area golf course.
