There's no denying that at some point in time that the average traveler looks for a discount hotel for an overnight stay. At times a splurge is appropriate and at other times saving a little off the top means having that much more for other things to do. There are surprisingly nice and cheap Maryland hotels to choose from when you're traveling through the state. In more expensive cities like Baltimore and Annapolis cheap Maryland lodging comes in very handy. The money you can save in Baltimore will help ease the costs of visiting wonderful attractions like Port Discovery, the National Aquarium and beautiful and historic Fells Point.

You're best bet for finding cheap Maryland hotels in the city is to go with the larger, well-known chain hotels. One definite advantage to this route is that you'll often get a discount room in an excellent location. If you're looking for a good deal with the benefit of some added luxury, take a look at the Historic Inns of Annapolis when you're planning on a stay in the city. You'll have to book in advance to secure one of their Maryland discount hotel rooms but it's well worth any trouble. Rooms at this trio of inns, once occupied by signers of the Declaration of Independence, are filled with antique treasures and feature sublime pillowtop mattresses, wonderful views and many exquisite details. Located across the road from the State Capitol and close to a number of terrific restaurants, boutiques, art galleries and historic homes, this is a prime location to stay. If you do manage to get an inexpensive suite you'll be enjoying cheap Maryland lodging at one of the prime spots in the city.

Perhaps you're on your way to a getaway at one of the Maryland cabins you rented and need a cheap place to stay for a night. If you're looking for cheap Maryland hotels, don't make the mistake of shortchanging yourself. There are plenty of three and four star hotels that offer excellent deals and packages, especially during the week. Maybe you're crossing the state for a Maryland fishing trip to Ocean City and you need to stop overnight because the drive is too long. Whatever the reason, a Maryland discount hotel is a great advantage for many situations.
